Oregon's Crime Rate on the Rise
No longer a sleepy little state, big city crime is taking hold...
Think Oregon is a safe place to raise children or retire?
A disproportionate number of Oregonians are welfare recipients; alcohol and drug abuse loom prominently. These unhealthy indicators pale, however, with the enormity of the Meth problem. Meth has been called the "poor man's cocaine" or "white trash crack", and its ever-expanding population of addicts (known as tweakers) are fiercely loyal to their addiction. Meaning, they will do anything to feed it.
Nationally, Oregon ranks at the top for a plethora of criminal activity. Sex Crimes, Child Abuse, Child Neglect, Child Sexual Abuse, Drug Crimes, Property Crimes and Theft among them. But that's just scratching the surface.
There are meth labs strewn all over the Oregon countryside, where common household chemicals such as bleach and ammonia are mixed with other ingredients and cooked. The resultant, crystallized formation is then smoked, liquified and injected, or ground up and snorted. It is reportedly a somewhat simple cooking process, yet unpredictably dangerous and subject to sudden and unexpected explosion. The chemical "cocktail", the remains of the cooking process, are extremely toxic.
In their labs, methheads have long utilized the active components of some common OTC cold medicines. Oregon has now required that all cold medications containing Ephedrine be locked up and heavily regulated... only available by prescription.

Southern Oregon is awash in Meth... if you don't mind exposing your impressionable children to these elements, then by all means consider moving here.

Gang activity, drug abuse and school violence increasing...
But wait, there's more. Unfortunately, a whole lot more.
Meth labs can pop up in a variety of locations, but are often incorporated into the "residence" as it were. These meth houses require Hazmat cleanup; the structures are subsequently condemned.
The effects of meth addiction upon a community are profound and far-reaching. The effects upon the addict are nothing short of absolutely devastating.
Here are some before and after photos...
The Meth crowd simply finds it elsewhere now. Well done.
......But I wouldn't recommend it.
...and the surveys says... (buzz) WRONG!
In the sequence of photos to the right, you can literally watch a time-lapsed unraveling of a person's life. Insidious in its destructive force, Meth's negative societal impacts are immeasurable.
If you are unfortunate enough to have experienced a family members' plummet into the Meth world, you begin to realize that it's best described as a cult. They become very dangerous people, completely unpredicatble and volatile. It's even worse when your child is held captive in this mess by an ex-spouse. More on that story by clicking here.
